Wild Mountain Beefalo Farm is a lovely little farm. We are located in the scenic New England town of West Brookfield Massachusetts. Our property is on the southeast facing hillside of a many generations old farm that dates back to the 1700's. Our land is part of the orchard from the old farm. Complete with a running brook, old apple trees and present-day landscaping; it is beautiful!

It is a beautiful little farm but small. In 2008 we were fortunate enough to finalize leases on additional land from 3 different local dairy farms. Working closely with the owners of the land, there are now fences and grassland where cornfields and multiflora roses had grown. To see our animals grazing on grassland that was last used as pasture 40 to 80 years ago is my idea of progress. The transition from a dairy herd to a herd naturally raised without the use of antibiotic feeds or growth hormones is a dream come true for us. We raise all of the feed the herd eats.

We now have separate areas for feeding and grazing. Calves spend much of their time feeding on mothers' milk and they develop their natural herd instincts among their own age group.

The cows give birth in the spring in the pasture and their young are raised at their side where they lead a natural life. There is a huge difference in farming to make milk that is trucked hundreds of miles compared to locally raised and marketed Beefalo.

Here are 3 pictures and a little story about us and our animals. We have chosen to raise our own Full-Blooded Beefalo bull for breeding. While we wait for our Sam to grow into his post as herd sire we have an outstanding and impressive bull, 'Big Red.' Coincidentally our lead cow, #207 is also 'Big Red'. She comes when we call because she loves apples and a scratch on her ears and is always hoping for a few. Obviously when she moves to a different area the other cows follow her. When we call to the Bull, 'Red' he picks his head up to see who is calling but it isn't an apple he wants.he is looking for the cows.

Sam is now mature enough to start his own herd group. His 'girlfriends' are the very pretty young girls and their bloodlines match his handsome stature.

Sam, our White Beefalo Bull likes to play in the mud, Black likes to roll in the dust and Tan is ever the Lady. She is in charge. These 3 purebred Beefalo are the core of next year's breeding stock.
